Every week, as I am in touch with our pastors in the slums round the world, I encounter need after need: street kids, prostitutes, orphans, widows, employment needs, so if you want me to connect you directly to a poor pastor let me know.

As an organization, we have chosen not to become a development agency but to remain as a catalytic, networking and training organization, considering leadership development as one of the most rapid ways of empowering the poor and extending the Kingdom among them.  The following are some specific projects.

Project Area 1: Urban Leadership Staff Support

The most difficult thing to sustain is support for the staff who coordiante all the other ministries.

Need: 25 new donors are needed for the Griggs and each part time admin staff needs to raise $1500 per month.

Project Area 2: Grassroots Training for Urban Poor Workers

Incarnational workers in the slums need ongoing training and leadership development that builds on our decades of experience. I have personally spent much of the last 7 years exploring the viability of a training infrastructure with partners in the network.  Several lead city learning networks.  This kind of  infrastructure is a preparation for expansion from hundreds to the next 5000 workers in our work with teh Lord to mobilise 50,000 from the slums to the slums.

Need: $1,600 - $5,000 for each 5 day training, or $30-$50 scholarship per pastor.

Project Area 3: Urban Poor Movement Leaders Development

Over the next year, I am planning three consultations of leaders in Africa and Brazil to work on the development of the MA for Transformational Urban Leadership.  These trips will train, and facilitate strategy for urban poor church planters in East Africa; Chennai, India; Los Angeles, Brazil,  and Manila, South East Asia. Typically, limited to 25-30 leaders for face to face story-telling from which we develop indigenous theology and strategy for urban poor ministry. (The regional processes lead to a major global gathering of urban poor mission leaders, Bangkok June 2010).

Need: $7,000 per consultation, including the travel, setup and publications

Sustaining the relationships in the network requires constant communications, and database management

Need: $5,000 network development.

Project Area 4: Transforming Revival - City Leaders' Development

Small (6-12 people) consultative gatherings of prophetic voices in societal sectors (law, business, media) of Auckland to explore, refine and potentially publish the collective prophetic word of God to this city.

Need: $1,000 for the setup work and publications from each of these consultations.

Project Area 5: Publications on Urban Poor Theology  and Strategy and Urban Transformation

The prophetic heart of Urban Leadership has been over 50 publications on Urban Mission over the last years impacting global strategy and creating new theological paradigms.

English versions of Cry of the Urban Poor and Companion to the Poor continue to be published by MARC. These are MARC’s best sellers, and used by over a dozen seminary courses. They have been key to mobilizing hundreds. The Portuguese (Brazil) version of Companion has been done, and Cry now needs doing. French(Africa), Spanish editions are out of print and require republication . Distribution to poor pastors.

Need: Transformative Revival needs to be edited ($6000) into a popular book and published for 500 leaders in New Zealand   ($4000).
